Happy Baby!

Caroline and mama took Adam on Wednesday for his post-op check up. The doctor said everything looks great!! He's gained almost 2lbs since the surgery. He's 11 lb 12 oz!! (guess he's going to take after us after all... =) )
Adam has been the most ADORABLE baby!! The smiles and coos and other cute baby things... We are loving every minute of it!!

Am I seeing Double??

This is the guy that held me up this past April. He finally got caught robbing another NBSC in Mt. Pleasant two weeks ago! CRAZY how much he resembles someone from my past?!?!?! (in 20 years plus 50lbs??) haha!!

Post-Op

Not even a week after his surgery, he's 90% better!! The other 10% shows when he's moved around too much. I'm sure he's just sore. Tomorrow he goes in for his post-op check up. I can't wait to see how much he weighs. He seriously already feels heavier. He's loving formula and is able to keep it all down (minus the FEW spit-ups...)!
Little Adam seems to have discovered his tongue! (hilarious)

Adam's Home!

This is the last picture of Adam at the hospital!! Can you tell he's ready to be home?? Grammie said he's eating like crazy, or wanting to!! Looks like surgery was a success, lets hope it stays this way!! I'm taking mama with me for the weekend, as originally planned. Give Caroline a buzz or stop by and visit her and her sweet angel!

Update

Mom texted me about 7 am and said that Adam has kept everything down thus far! This is a really good sign. He's got one more feeding at 7:30 before they can dismiss him!!

I'm going to Charleston tonight after work so I doubt I'll get a chance to update the blog. I'll do my best but I'm really hoping there's nothing else to report except for them coming home and Adam doing wonderfully!!

I'm sure Caroline would love visitors. Brian's going out of town for a photo shoot and mom MAY or may not come to Charleston this weekend to help me out. This all depends on our sweet baby boy and his mama!!

Keep the prayers a coming!! Thanks!!

Peewee update

Adam went in for surgery around 8am today. The surgery was seriously complete in 15 minutes!! The operating room called Caroline & Brian and told them that Adam did wonderful and that they would call them when they could come see him in the recovery room. They went and spent an hour with him in recovery before they brought them back into the room. He was exhausted from everything but still not as fussy as everyone expected. Our little peanut is a real trooper. The sweet nurse brought him some Tylenol around 11 to help the pain. He didn't get any "food" until 12:30! At this point he got 15 cc's (1/2 ounce) of pedialyte!! At 2:30 he got another 15 cc's of pedialyte. (This was almost torcher for the little guy because he's got to be starving. He hasn't eaten since Monday night!! ) At 4:30 he finally got formula but only an ounce!! They increase the amount by 15 every 2/3 hours until he gets up to 2 ounces. Once he can keep 2 oz down, he gets to go home!! The last feeding on this schedule is around 7am. The nurse said she would guess they'll be on their way home tomorrow around lunch time! Keep those prayers a coming!! poor baby has cords literally from head to toe!!

Caroline decided it was easiest to sit inside the crib to take care of her baby. haha- she's still a big baby at heart!!

Surgery

  • Caroline texted me around 4:45am and said that Adam was ok and doctors are still aiming for 8 for surgery.
  • Caroline just called the house and said that they are going to take Adam back around 6:30 to prep him for surgery and would be having the surgery at 8.
  • I will update as soon as I can. I plan on being up there all day though since I'm going out of town tomorrow. Feel free to call/text my cell 864.923.1549.

ME

I'M EMOTIONALLY DRAINED (period).

what a day, what a day...

So...

Today, Caroline, Brian, and mama took Adam to have an upper GI and an ultra sound to try and get some answers about why he can't keep anything in his tummy. As soon as the tech did the ultra sound, she realized she didn't need to do the other. She immediately sent the family to LFP to get a doctor to read over what the ultra sound showed. Dr. Patterson was on call and saw Adam right away. He said that he has pyloric stenosis and needs to go have surgery immediately.

"Pyloric stenosis is a narrowing of the pylorus, the lower part of the stomach through which food and other stomach contents pass to enter the small intestine. When an infant has pyloric stenosis, the muscles in the pylorus have become enlarged to the point where food is prevented from emptying out of the stomach."

Needless to say, everyone hauled ass (excuse my language) to Greenville Memorial to meet with Dr. Abrams (I think that's his name). I left work, just as fast, and met everyone up there. As soon as the doctor saw Adam and his little belly, he knew what was wrong. He also said that he was too dehydrated to proceed with surgery today. He sent us over to the pediatric ward for Adam to be hooked to IVs so that he could rehydrate. Surgery will most likely be tomorrow.

PLEASE keep Adam and our family in your thoughts and prayers. Our little baby has been through HELL and is only TWO MONTHS OLD!

Adam

Please keep Adam (and our family) in your prayers!! Tomorrow is the day he goes in for the upper GI and ultrasound. It breaks my heart to see him like this. He was such a happy baby and now he seems like he's in pain... It's KILLING me!! I hope tomorrow will bring some answers!

Our Precious Peanut

Today, mama and Caroline took Adam to see Christie Bealer at LFP for his shots that he couldn't get the last visit. Poor baby did not like those needles!! Christie also decided to go ahead and order an upper GI and an ultra sound to try and figure out what is going on with our lil peanut. These will be done next Tuesday. He now weighs 10 lb 14 oz which is actually better than we thought. He can't keep anything down! He is so long and skinny, definately not like our family. Mama decided to go and get him some pedialyte just so he could have some nutrients. A little of that is still coming up but not as bad as the formula. Just please keep all of us in your prayers. He was not a happy camper tonight at all!! (even though he had some pretty little visitors).

GoOd TiMeS with GoOd PeOpLe

Friday, Justin and I headed to Charleston for the weekend. We had a great time!! Friday night we chilled out at Watson's house because we got in around 10:30. Saturday we decided to get moving and head downtown. We went to the Farmer's Market and had lunch at Groucho's!! Then we headed to the market to with all of the other fanny-pack wearing tourist. After walking around for awhile, we hopped in the car and went to the battery. After we had enough of downtown, we back over to Mt. Pleasant. We stopped by FINZ to have a beer with Chad. Of course Justin had to check out the ACE hardware and Haddrell's Bait and Tackle shop. =) (just like my daddy... haha). We meet Pam, Rusty, Annie and Jordan at Huck's for dinner and drinks. The food was wonderful but the wait was terrible!! After dinner, we decided to go to Banana Cabana to speak to the guys and to show Rick Annie's belly. (he told her to come back when she got big so she thought it was a good time. she's still tiny but has a basketball belly!! so damn cute!!) It was really funny being at Banana Cabana... you can figure that one out for yourself though. After we left IOP, we headed to Sullivan's Island to meet up with all of the girls for Nancy's going away-bar hopping-party-thing. We started at Poe's and ended up at Off the Hook. We really had a great time seeing everyone!! Justin was surprised at all of the Laurens girls being together!! (we travel in packs). We left Sullivan's just before the bars closed... Today (Sunday) we slept in and chilled with Watson. We thought about going to the beach but instead we decided to shower and go out to the SeeWee Outpost. I figured Justin would enjoy it (which he did). Then I took him to lunch at SeeWee restaurant. So yummy! On our way out of town, we stopped by the Tilton's to say goodbye. Got home this evening around 6:30. What a GREAT weekend!!

Happy 4th

"Let freedom ring, let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today
Is a day of reckoning.
Let the weak be strong, let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away, let the guilty pay
It's Independence Day!"
